The service is staffed by a dedicated team comprising Aboriginal Health Workers, registered midwives, child and family health nurses, and social workers. They provide home visits and clinic appointments to ensure accessible care for all Aboriginal families residing on the Central Coast.
Key services offered by Ngiyang include cultural support and advocacy, pregnancy and postnatal care, developmental child health checks for children aged 0-5 years, parenting education, breastfeeding support, child immunisations, and assistance with accessing other health and community services. Central Coast Local Health District’s Aboriginal Health Unit Nunyara supports the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and enhance their quality of life living on the Central Coast.
Nunyara has strong links to the Aboriginal community and provides a number of services including specialised Aboriginal health services, advocacy and support.
The health services provided by Nunyara include: Aboriginal complex care, Aboriginal hospital liaison, Aboriginal palliative care and Aboriginal cancer care.
The Glen Centre operates residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Established in 1994, The Glen for Men is located at Chittaway Point, while The Glen for Women, opened in 2022, is situated at Wyong Creek. Both facilities welcome Indigenous and non-Indigenous individuals from across Australia who are over the age of 18 and seeking a supportive environment to overcome addiction.
The Glen's 12-week residential program offers a culturally safe and supportive environment for recovery. The program includes individual and group counseling sessions, focusing on issues such as anger management, relationship challenges, trauma, grief, and gambling. Clients are also guided in achieving mental, spiritual, and physical well-being, with an emphasis on building practical life skills to support long-term recovery.
Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Services, formerly known as Yerin Aboriginal Health Services, is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation serving the Central Coast region of New South Wales. As the sole Aboriginal Medical Service on the Central Coast, Eleanor Duncan provides culturally responsive health and wellbeing services to approximately 5,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Their facilities are located in Wyong, Mardi, Summerland Point, Umina Beach, and Woongarrah.
